MMA Junkie reports that drug tests for UFC 146 came back clean for all 24 fighters. They tested clean for both performance-enhancing drugs and recreational/drugs of abuse. The Nevada State Athletic Commission handled the tests, and Director Keith Kizer revealed the results today.
The event took place last Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Junior Dos Santos defend his heavyweight title against Frank Mir via second-round TKO. The show also saw Cain Velasquez defeat Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva with strikes in the first round. It was an all-heavyweight main card on PPV, which followed prelims on FX and Facebook.
The NSAC test every single fighter on the card and they all were negative on drugs of abuse (marijuana, cocaine, etc), anabolic steroids and other drugs that enhance performance. Normally, only main card fighters, winning fighters and fighters who previously failed drug tests are given new tests. But since the process is random, anyone can be tested at any time.
Alistair Overeem was scheduled to fight Dos Santos at the event, but his pre-fight drug test showed elevated testosterone levels. Overeem was pulled and suspended until at least December 27 by the NSAC.
