Thiago Silva has been released from jail following his altercation with his estranged wife last month. As previously reported, Silva was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and a count of resisting arrest without violence connected with the incident. Silva allegedly drove to Pablo Popovitch Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Florida and threatened his wife Thaysa and Popovich with a gun before fleeing to his home where, after a standoff with police, he surrendered nonviolently. Silva was released from the UFC afterward.
Silva's lawyer has confirmed that he was released on a $25,000 bond following a hearing today. The lawyer noted that he and others, including Rashad Evans and Fabianna Popovitch, spoke on Silva's behalf.
Silva is due back in court next week.
