Gilbert Melendez recently spoke about his upcoming UFC debut, a shot at Benson Henderson's lightweight title at UFC on FOX 7. Check out the highlights:

On how he felt after he signed his UFC contract: "I just got a little bit more nervous and a little bit more anxious...I think I'll be fulfilled when I win. I just know I've got a lot on my plate right now."

On making it into the UFC: "It's been a goal for a long time not to fight for the title, but win the title. I think it was something that was inevitable for me, and I was planning on being there eventually. But it's definitely a big milestone for me, and I'm happy about it, of course. I can't believe it all worked out. Sometimes, I think I deserve it, but it's also about timing, and the timing in the business all adds up. In San Jose, I couldn't ask for anything more."
