Fans are invited to attend the UFC 152 press conference on Toronto tomorrow.
The event will take place at Massey Hall, 178 Victoria St., starting at 12:30 PM ET (11:30 a.m. CT local time). It will be free and open to the public.
The UFC 152 PPV event takes place at the Air Canada Center on September 22. It will be headlined by the first UFC flyweight title fight between Joseph Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson. It will be co-main evented by a middleweight fight between Michael Bisping and Brian Stann, as well as a fight between BJ Penn and Rory MacDonald.
Benavidez, Johnson, Bisping, Stann and MacDonald will join the UFC director of Canadian operations, Tom Wright, at the press conference. For those unable to attend, it will be streaming live on UFC.com and MMAjunkie.com.
UFC 152 tickets will go on sale Friday to the general public. UFC Fight Club members can buy tickets on Wednesday and UFC e-newsletter subscribers can buy tickets on Thursday. Prices range from $85 to $550 and can be bought through Ticketmaster and the Air Canada Center box office. This will be the second of three UFC shows in Canada in 2012. UFC 149 took place in Calgary and November's UFC 154 will take place in Montreal. UFC previously visited Toronto for UFC 140 in December at the Air Canada Center. UFC 129 in April 2011 broke North American MMA attendance and gat records at Toronto's Rogers Center.
Benavidez (16-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC) and Johnson (15-2-1 MMA, 3-1-1 UFC) will finally have their fight after a delay that began in March during a four-man tournament for the flyweight belt. Johnson's fight with Ian McCall ended in a draw thanks to a commissioner's error in Sydney, which caused a rematch this past month. Johnson won which gave him a title fight. Benavidez has been waiting ever since defeating Yasuhiro Urushitani in Sydney.
Bisping (22-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC) hasn't had a fight since a close decision loss to Chael Sonnen in January. He was schedule to fight Tim Boetsch at UFC 149 before he had a knee injury and surgery. Stann (12-4 MMA, 6-3 UFC) was set to fight at UFC on FOX 4 in Los Angeles against Hector Lombard but was injured. He recently lost via submission in the second round to Sonnen at October's UFC 136, but he knocked out Alessio Sakara in the first round in April.
Penn (16-8-2 MMA, 12-7-2 UFC) has only won one fight in his past five, with three losses and one draw. He also lost his lightweight title and rematch to Frankie Edgar. After a loss to Nick Diaz in October at UFC 137, he announced his retirement from MMA. However, he's coming back to fight MacDonald (13-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC), who is on a three fight winning streak with wins over Nate Diaz, Mike Pyle and Che Mills.
