Representatives for Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante have stated that they wish to confirm the fighter tested positive for stanozolol before a Strikeforce event that took place on May 19 in San Jose, California. Therefore, they have asked the California State Athletic Commission to screen him again.
George Dodd – the CSAC Executive Director – has confirmed that Cavalcante's "B" sample from his drug test following Strikeforce: World Heavyweight Grand Prix Final will be tested for performance-enhancing drugs, as well as drugs of abuse.
Cavalcante's camp has also requested that one of their representatives view the opening of the sample, and possibly the analyzing of the sample by the lab. Once the second test takes place on June 26, the fighter's representatives will decide whether or not to file an appeal on the fighter's one-year suspension and $2,500 fine.
Stanozolol is a synthetic anabolic steroid that has been commonly used by athletes.
