Clay Guida & Gray Maynard Focused

UFC on FX 4 headliners Clay Guida and Gray Maynard spoke with MMAJunkie about the mild controversy surrounding their upcoming fight. Here are some highlights:

Maynard on the request that Guida braid his hair: "A person [in my camp] inquired on it a while ago. It came out obviously [in the MMAjunkie.com story], and that's how I knew about it. They thought it might be more of an issue because (his hair) is longer now. I didn't even talk to them about it that much. I just said, 'All right. It's up to you guys.'"

Guida on the controversy surrounding his hair: "It's not even a headache. It just shows me their camp's mind is elsewhere and I'm focused on the task at hand, and that's victory. Friday will tell. I'm not really putting more into it than there should be. It's only a hairdo. We go out there, and it's all about heart and who's more determined to get their hand raised. I'm so driven in this fight, and we trained so hard for it. Victory will be mine."

"You guys will see a big surprise come Friday. I train with it sometimes up in a ponytail, and my teammates ask me, 'Why do you train with it up and put it down (for fights)?' And I tell them, 'Like Kid Rock says, 'Long hair swingin', middle finger in the air.' It's time to go.'"
