Ricardo Lamas recently spoke about his upcoming fight with Hatsu Hioki, here are the highlights…
On Hioki Turning Down a Title Shot: "If I were in his shoes, I definitely, probably would have taken that title shot because that's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You never know what's going to happen day to day in this sport."
On The Fight: "I guess if you look at it on paper, you see it that way, but really me when I fight, every single fight is the biggest fight of my career," he said. "You constantly have that pressure to go out and perform and do well."
On Training: "I think with the preparations that I do during my training camp, it's going to prepare me to just go with the flow of the fight," Lamas said. "If I see the opening, I'm going to take it, but ... I'm always looking to finish. But it's not something I want to rush because when you rush, that is when you can get yourself caught or make a mistake."
On His Goals: "I want to be remembered as one of the best fighters in my weight class in the world," Lamas said. "Obviously, the top goal is to be a world champion. Just like everybody else, that's a dream of mine I've had. Those are the things I'm trying to shoot for."
