Shane Del Rosario recently spoke with MMAjunkie about his recovery from a car accident that left him with a herniated disc, his fight with Stipe Micioc at UFC 146 and more. Check out the highlights:

On his reaction to the injury: "I started getting scared and thinking, 'What am I going to do? Should I go back to school and call it [quits]?' But things started getting better, and now I'm here today."

On what kept him focus on MMA: "School. [laughs] I don't want to go back to school. After I graduated, I could go to grad school or start fighting, and I started fighting."

On knowing how lucky he is: "There's a lot of people out there who are doing a lot worse," he said. "I could have died in that accident. I have friends with cancer that have lost to cancer. My thing is not that bad. I'm working through it, and knowing that other people are going through a lot of hard stuff, I persevered through mine, and it made me train harder."

On his layoff being a disadvantage: "But I'm using all that nerves or energy to turn it into the positive. As far as my conditioning, I feel great. I had to change some of my training around, but I feel as well as I did in my last fight, or better."

On Lavar Johnson, who he beat in his last match, scoring knockout of the night in his last fight: "I'll get my time. I was injured, and I had some layoff. But it's my time Saturday, and as long as no injuries [happen], it's going to be my year."
