Herb Dean To Referee UFC 146 Main Event

Herb Dean will referee the main event of Junior Dos Santos vs Frank Mir at UFC 146. The judges for the match will be Adalaide Byrd, Glenn Trowbridge and Tony Weeks.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission made the assignments today at its monthly meeting in Las Vegas, based on the recommendations of executive director Keith Kizer. Dean was selected from a group of referees that included Yves Lavigne, Steve Mazzagatti and Josh Rosenthal. Other available judges included Patricia Morse Jarman, Junichiro Kamijo, Lester Griffin and Dave Hagen.

Dean will earn $1,200 while the judges will get $950 each. Both fighters were told about the assignments before the meeting and neither camp had any problems.

The event takes place on May 26 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It will feature five heavyweight fights including Cain Velasquez vs former EliteXC titleholder Antonio Silva.
